  1. What first inspired you to support Paralympics Australia?

At the Sydney Games in 2000, I attended as many Paralympic events as I could, being my first exposure to them. It made me aware of these incredible athletes, the huge effort and discipline needed, their resilience and determination and the strength of character required to achieve success, overcoming such enormous personal obstacles. They are role models for everyone. This inspired me to support the Movement when it became possible.

2. What motivated you to include Paralympics Australia in your Will?

I strongly believe a gift in my Will can help create long-term impact for Paralympics Australia by giving wonderful opportunities for people with disabilities. Gifts in Wills to organisations such as Paralympics Australia create significant ripple effects that extend beyond the initial donation, impacting the organisation’s work, future donors and family dynamics. This reliable funding allows these organisations to plan for the future, launch initiatives and ensure that meaningful change continues long after the donor’s lifetime.

3. What impact do you hope your gift will have for future generations of Paralympians?

I hope it will help fund sports and community programs, and to identify and develop future Para athletes. I hope it will contribute to the development of better, more accessible sports equipment for specific disabilities.

4. What would you say to someone who’s thinking about leaving a Gift in their Will to support our Paralympians?

Supporting such a worthwhile organisation as Paralympics Australia by leaving a gift in your Will can be one of the most satisfying contributions anyone can make. My reasons above explain why I believe this. The flow on benefits are enormous. A donor’s generosity often inspires others to consider their own philanthropic legacy, creating a ripple effect of giving and compassion.
