Role: Senior Performance and Talent Advisor

Interesting fact about you:  Despite being born with just one arm and playing lots of different sports throughout my school years, it wasn’t until I was 21 that I learned I was eligible to compete in Para-sport.

What do you like to do outside of ‘work’?  Spending time with my kids Jack (Year 8) and Charlotte (Year 7) and supporting their interests. I also enjoy remaining connected to some of the athletes I competed with.

How long have you been with PA?  Twenty years! I started in 2005 as Development Coordinator for Victoria and Tasmania, initiating a Paralympic Talent Search Program following the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games. While working at Paralympics Australia, I continued to compete at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and the 2006 World Para Athletics Championships before retiring from competing in athletics and taking up coaching Para-athletes.

What are your goals for your role at Paralympics Australia?  To ensure the process and understanding of the Para-sport journey for athletes, potential athletes and those interested in the Movement is easier to understand and engage with, to ensure Para-athletes have the opportunity to compete to the level their talent and desire enable them to.

Why should someone donate to Paralympics Australia?  I think the contributions from the public are very much appreciated by athletes competing in Paralympic sport. There are many components to the delivery and breadth of the pathway, with multiple stakeholders involved, Components of the pathway remain underfunded, so financial contributions play a critical role in filling these gaps.

Is there anything you would like to say to our generous donors?  Your support enables our dedicated workforce to deliver the best environments for our Para-athletes throughout the breadth of the pathway, from someone just starting their journey and looking to get involved, right through to the Paralympic team.
