James Talbot made his international debut for Australia in the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four at the 2018 World Rowing Championships. The Sydney University Boat Club member, began his rowing career at Balmain Rowing Club.

When James was 21, while on a holiday in Vietnam with friends, he had a motorbike accident which left him with a permanently damaged wrist and hand. Unable to continue playing contact sports, he decided to get back into rowing (now Para-rowing), a sport he hadn’t competed in since high school.

Making his Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020, James competed with crew Nikki Ayers, Tom Birtwhistle, Alex Viney, and coxswain Renae Domaschenz in the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four to finish in fourth place with a time of 7:34.73.

Outside of rowing, James works in financial markets as a foreign exchange dealer.…
