Caitlin Dransfield’s life changed when she attended a Paralympics Australia Come and Try Day in 2016. From the moment she tried badminton, Caitlin’s passion for the sport was sparked and she never turned back.

Caitlin had played various sports to that point, including tennis, cricket and netball and she’d had a go at swimming, gymnastic and dancing. Tennis became her favourite sport throughout her teenage years and she was once runner-up for the West Australian Para-Tennis Player of the Year.

Caitlin qualified for Tokyo 2020 as a three-time Australian Champion in the women’s standing singles and the Oceania Champion of both the standing singles and doubles.

While she did not progress beyond the quarterfinals during her Paralympic debut, she shared with her training partner Grant Manzoney the amazing honour of becoming Australia’s first Paralympic badminton player, after the sport was introduced for Tokyo 2020.
