Perth-based Para-rower Davinia Lefroy made history in 2016 when she combined with Brock Ingram, Jeremy McGrath, Kathleen Murdoch and coxswain Jo Burnand in the mixed coxed four LTA to qualify Australia’s first ever boat in that class at a Paralympic Games.

Clinical psychologist Davinia was 11-years-old when she was diagnosed with Stargardt’s macular dystrophy, meaning she can now only see using her peripheral vision.

A rower throughout her high school years, Davinia was approached in 2016 by Australian head coach Gordon Marcks to trial for the Australian mixed coxed four. Jumping at the opportunity, she made her Paralympic debut not long after, where she and her team placed fourth in their heat and third in their repechage heat, winning their final to place sixth overall.

Davinia considers it an honour and a privilege to represent her country at the pinnacle of her sport, citing her selection for Rio as her greatest sporting moment to date.

In her spare time she enjoys practising yoga, walking her dog and drinking coffee. Her favourite holiday destination is Croatia and her ultimate goal in life is to find contentment.
