The Para-sport Equipment Fund is a joint initiative of the Paralympics Australia and Sport Australia, supported by Paralympics Australia’s sponsors and donors.
It is designed to provide opportunities for Australians with disabilities to participate and compete in Para-sport by addressing the challenges associated with the high cost of Para-sport equipment. Delivered in partnership with the Paralympics Australia’s national federations, a major initiative of the Fund is an asset bank of loan equipment, which aims to offer a range of equipment access solutions for Australians with disabilities who would like to participate in Para-sport, but are unable to outlay, for example, the $16,000 it costs to purchase a fully customised wheelchair rugby chair.
There will be five rounds of funding over the next 18 months. Applications for the second round of funding opened on 29 April and will close at 5pm AEST on 24 May. Notifications will be made on 5 July.
