The Para-sport Equipment Fund is a joint initiative of Paralympics Australia and Sport Australia, supported by Paralympics Australia’s sponsors and donors.
It is designed to provide opportunities for Australians with disabilities to participate and compete in Para-sport by addressing the challenges associated with the high cost of Para-sport equipment. Delivered in partnership with the Paralympics Australia’s national federations, a major initiative of the Fund is an asset bank of loan equipment, which aims to offer a range of equipment access solutions for Australians with disabilities who would like to participate in Para-sport, but are unable to outlay, for example, the $16,000 it costs to purchase a fully customised wheelchair rugby chair.
There will be five rounds of funding over 18 months. Notifications for Round 2 were made on 5 July. Applications for Round 3 will open on 29 July and close at 5:00pm AEST on 23 August. Notifications for Round 3 will be made on 25 October.
