When Tom Gallagher turned his focus to pool swimming from Surf Life Saving at the end of 2020, the Somerset athlete dreamed of making a Paralympic Team. Less than a year later, he did just that.

Selected to represent Australia at the Tokyo Paralympics, Gallagher not only qualified for the team but broke the Australian record in the men’s 400m freestyle S10 at the Trials as well.

Making his Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020, Tom returned to Australia with a bronze medal, clocking a time of 4:03.91 in the men’s 400m freestyle S10.
