Sporting Career Highlight
Running a PB in the 1500 at the Virtus Oceania Games
Onwards and upwards
With a hero like Cathy Freeman, Annabelle Colman has inspiration in droves.
The T20 endurance athlete is striving to carry the flag and earn a podium just like her idol.
Born in Switzerland, Annabelle’s journey in athletics started overseas when she was aged seven and ran the kids’ event at the Ljubljana marathon.
She became more serious about competing in high school, joining Inclusive Sports Training with Liz Gosper, and the Old Xaverians Athletics Club with Anthony de Castella with 1500m becoming her focus.
In her international debut at the Oceania Global Games she ran 4:51.19 to take gold. Then in February 2023, she broke through the 4:50 barrier and set a National record of 4:49.30.
Away from sport Annabelle enjoys sport, music and drawing, and hopes to still be representing her country on the track in ten years’ time.
