Bupa has become the Official Healthcare Partner to Paralympics Australia, in a relationship that will focus on championing health, equality, and inclusion under the banner of ‘We all win when we’re all in’.

The initial three-year commitment will see Bupa support the health and wellbeing of Paralympians, their families and support networks, providing them with valuable assistance in preparation for the next Paralympic Games in Paris 2024, and beyond.

Bupa Asia Pacific CEO Hisham El-Ansary said: “Bupa is proud to be the Official Healthcare Partner of Paralympics Australia and to be supporting athletes on their journey to the 2024 Paris Games.

“Our partnership with Paralympics Australia reinforces our commitment to supporting greater access and inclusion across the wider community – on the sporting field, in the workplace and in healthcare more generally.

“We want to play our part in creating more opportunities for people living with disabilities to enable them to participate in grassroots sports and establishing clear pathways for future generations of Para-athletes.”

Paralympics Australia CEO Catherine Clark said: “Our overarching goal at Paralympics Australia is to harness the power of sport to be a catalyst for social change, to create a more inclusive Australia.

“Inclusion, diversity and changing perceptions about disability are central to our mission, which is why we’re thrilled to partner with Bupa. We are so excited about the ways we can work together to effect change while providing a new level of support for members of the Australian Paralympic movement.

“The potential for collaboration between our two organisations on activities and campaigns over the next three years is immense. We are ready to get to work pursuing our shared goals by enabling more people to attain the many physical and mental benefits that leading a healthier lifestyle can bring.”

The partnership will also focus on raising funds for the Paralympic Team and providing them with in-kind support.

Mr El-Ansary said “Bupa’s purpose is to help people live longer, happier and healthier lives and make a better world, and this partnership brings together two organisations with shared values and ambitions to champion inclusion and equality for people with a disability.

“While we have policies, programs and champions in place, our partnership with Paralympics Australia will bring an additional focus to promoting greater inclusivity in healthcare, both within and outside Bupa, enabling us to challenge perceptions of what it means to have a disability.”

Globally, Bupa is also a partner of the Paralympic teams of Spain, Poland, Chile, and Great Britain.
