Para-shooter Chris Pitt marked the end of his Paralympic campaign today when he lined up for the P3 Mixed 25m Pistol, Class SH1.
The established shooter shot a competitive score of 94 out of a possible 100 across the first of three precision strings, but unfortunately couldn’t maintain momentum and finished with a score of 259/300 in the first half of the event.
Pitt fought back in the Rapid Fire stage of the competition putting in a strong performance with a score 283 to finish seventh and an overall combined score of 542/600.
Defending gold medallist Xing Huang from China triumphed in the qualifying round with a score of 585, India’s Jakhar Rahul was in second (576) with China’s Chao Yang rounding out the minor placings (575). Huang continued to dominate, winning gold in the final ahead of Szymon Sowinski (Poland) and Oleksii Denysiuk (Ukraine) who took silver and bronze respectively.
On the final day of competition on Sunday Aussie team mate Anton Zappelli will contest the R6 Mixed 50m Rifle Prone, Class SH1 at 10:30 AEST.
