Guy Henley has two silvers and two bronze medals in Discus from four World Para-Athletics Championships – and he came fourth at his first Paralympics in Rio five years ago.

So it doesn’t take long to guess what Henly would like from the Tokyo Paralympics.

He gets his chance for a golden crack on Friday morning as the men’s Discus (F37) at the Olympic Stadium.

Henley’s quests to both get on the Paralympic podium and then change the colour of his medal this time has been helped slightly by the fact all three 2016 Games medallists are not in the field.

On season best figures, Henly is right in the mix to make some noise in the throwers’ circle on Friday.

He is the only Australian in field event action on Day 8. There is one track final featuring Sam McIntosh, 100m (T52), but another three Australians have heats with their finals on Saturday.

Two of those – Rheed McCracken (pictured) and James Turner – are after their second medals at the Tokyo Paralympics. The third, Rhiannon Clarke, in the 400m (T38) heats is after another finals appearance following her 5th in the 100m final on Day 2.

Turner vowed after his 400m (T36) gold medal run on Tuesday, that he wanted to remain unbeaten in the sprint. He is the current world champion winning the 2019 Dubai title in 11.72s.

Turner’s season best in 2021 of 12.02s is the fastest submitted this year.

McCracken had concentrated on the 100m (T34) for Tokyo and came away with a silver medal – his third in a row after the same colour in London 2012 and Rio 2016.

The longer 800m he hasn’t raced at the last two World Para-Athletics Championships (2017, 2019) but did win bronze over the distance at Lyon in 2013.
