Exemption Request

As an Australian Paralympic Team Member all athletes are required to comply with the Athlete Code of Conduct and are obligated to wear all Australian Paralympic Team apparel issued to them.

Paralympics Australia (PA) will consider requests made by individual athletes to exempt them from wearing competition apparel issued to them under the following reasons:

1. Performance reasons
2. Medical reasons

Exemptions will only be considered with supporting documentation. The documentation must clearly support the exemption request and include (but not limited to) design characteristics enhancements, evidence of the effect on athletes’ performance and medical reasons for consideration.

PA is bound to current sponsorship agreements with our suppliers for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and will only approve exemptions if the supporting documentation is sufficient. Reasons based on personal preferences and individual’s sponsorship arrangements (outside of Games time) are not acceptable reasons and will not be approved.

(Please note this form must be submitted with supporting documentation within one week of receiving advice of your selection on the above mentioned Team).

All Specialised Equipment must:

1. Be authorised by FINA; and
2. Must request the supplier apply the Australian Coat of Arms logo onto the garment as provided by PA
3. Not bear the name, logo or other form of identification of the manufacturer or supplier of the Specialised Equipment nor have any other design element that may be a trade mark or construed as a design element unique to a competitor of the official supplier of the Paralympic Team Uniform; this includes coloured panels, contrasting colours and coloured stitching.
4. Provide an artwork of the garment indicating no logos for approval by IPC with this application

All alternate footwear must:

1. Be authorised by IPC (Comply with the IPC Paris 2024 Manufacturing Guidelines)
2. Not be a custom made product for the purpose of brand exposure, ambush marketing or personal profiling
3. Provide an image/link of the preferred footwear for approval by PA and the IPC with this application

Exemptions will be approved by the Chef de Mission in consultation with Performance Services.
