Australia’s Para triathlon team delivered an impressive medal haul at the World Triathlon Para Series in Yokohama, led by Paralympic Games gold medallist Lauren Parker (PTWC), who had only just defrosted from her winter campaign at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games.
Barely a month removed from the snow and ice of Italy, Parker’s transition to the sun-drenched streets of Yokohama felt almost alchemical – a thawing of winter rigour into summer power.
In the women’s PTWC race, the reigning Para World Champion crossed the line nearly two minutes ahead of her nearest rival, showcasing tactical brilliance, raw endurance and the seamless adaptability that defines her as one of the world’s most versatile Para athletes and reaffirming her Para triathlon supremacy.
Parker’s performance set the tone for the squad, which delivered strong results across multiple classifications.
Para World Champion Anu Francis (PTS2) and Maggie Sandles, guided by Lauren Sprague (PTVI), each claimed silver, while Grace Brimelow (PTS5) added bronze.
On the men’s side, Sam Harding, guided by Olympian Aaron Royle (PTVI), and Jack Howell (PTS5) both took silver, demonstrating Australia’s growing depth across classifications.
Other Australians also performed strongly, with Caroline Baird, guided by Sophie Walker (PTS5), and Jeremy Peacock (PTS4) finishing just off the podium in fourth, Matthew Engesser (PTS4) fifth and David Bryant (PTS5) seventh.
The results in Yokohama highlight Australia’s depth of talent across classes and reinforce its standing as one of the leading Para triathlon nations.
