As Australia’s Winter Paralympians prepare for the biggest competition of their lives, Paralympics Australia is offering Aussies from right across our vast continent the chance to show their support by purchasing a Green and Gold Seat.
The fundraising effort is a major component in building Paralympics Australia’s capacity to deliver teams to the Paralympic Games and build pathways that empower people with a disability to chase their sporting dreams.
Australia’s Paralympic Winter Team captain for Milano Cortina, snowboarder Sean Pollard, said: “Competing at the Games is about so much more for me than medals.
“Para sport brings people together like nothing else. Para sport has the power to unite. Within the Paralympic community, people with a disability discover connection, support and a true sense of belonging, both on and off the field.”
Green and Gold Seats raises funds to power essential programs and resources that nurture emerging talent and create more opportunities for people with a disability to thrive in sport.
The target for the Milano Cortina Green and Gold Seats campaign is $250,000. Each $25 seat is a chance for Australians to become more than just a spectator, but to actively support our incredible current and future Paralympians.
“My personal journey with Para sport has provided me with a place to heal and move forward from past trauma and has also provided me with the opportunity to grow and flourish as a human being,” Pollard said.
“When you have a disability, having a place where you can test your ability is super important and Para sport provides that.”
