Paralympic golden girl Lakeisha Patterson continued to impress at the penultimate World Para Swimming World Series in Indianapolis, USA on Sunday, clocking 1:06.19 to win the women’s 100m freestyle S8 ahead of local favourites Julia Gaffney (1:15.39) and Ahalya Lettenberger (1:15.94).
Off the back of dominant victories in the 400m freestyle S8, 200m individual medley SM8 and 100m backstroke S8, two-time Paralympic gold medallist Patterson proved herself to be in top form with first-class performances in the 100m freestyle S8 and 100m butterfly S8.
After securing a win in the freestyle, she returned to the pool in style, recording a time of 1:18.61 in the butterfly to finish first ahead of Canada’s Danielle Dorris (1:22.07) and Colombia’s Laura Rodriguez (1:27.80), who placed second and third, respectively.
Rio 2016 representatives Blake Cochrane and Ellie Cole were also impressive, wrapping up their Indianapolis World Series campaign with six wins between them.

The final World Series will take place in Berlin, Germany from 6-9 July, the last major competition before the World Para Swimming Championships, the largest swimming event outside of the Paralympic Games, held 30 September – 6 October.
