Carol Cooke AUS CyclingAustralian para-cyclist could complete at remarkable triple double at this summer’s UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships.

Australian para-cyclist Carol Cooke is looking to continue her unbeaten form from last year as she prepares to complete a unique triple double of world titles in 2015.

In July, Cooke will compete in the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Nottwil, Switzerland, and the world number one in the T2 class is aiming to retain the rainbow jerseys she won in 2013 and 2014 in the road race and time trial events.

Even though she has dominated her class for a number of years now, she knows her rivals are not too far away.

“I learnt that there will always be new people coming on the scene,” said Cooke who won gold in the mixed time trial T1-T2 at London 2012. “You can’t rest on your laurels you have to be constantly striving to be the best you can be.”

To ensure she remains at the top of her game, Cooke is training hard to stay one step ahead of her rivals, such as Canada’s Marie-Eve Croteau and the USA’s Jill Walsh.

“I have changed my gym programme slightly and put in weight circuit sessions which test me and are fantastic cardio workouts as well.

“To me it is all about remaining healthy to make sure that I can train properly,” said Cooke who also won double gold at last year’s UCI World Cup meeting in Cantimpalos, Spain.

The UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships will take place in Nottwil, Switzerland, between 28 July – 02 August 2015
