Spread the love

Kieran ModraThe Rio 2016 Volunteer program has been officially launched.

Following the success of the London 2012 volunteer program, the Rio Games Organising Committee (ROCOG) is on the lookout for volunteers to support the Paralympic Teams from around the world for the duration of the Rio Games.

Selected volunteers will be given the title of National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Assistant and will assist the Paralympic Teams with various tasks including day-to-day operations in the Paralympic Village – a true money-can’t-buy experience and a chance to take part in one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

The success of the last program during London 2012 relied heavily on volunteers’ local knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment, and as such, the APC will be targeting Australians based in Rio or those planning to attend the Games. Volunteers will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements and costs.

There are many volunteer roles available. If volunteers are interested in the role of NPC Assistant for the Australian Paralympic Team, they can register by visiting the volunteer portal on the Rio 2016 website and follow the registration instructions provided.

All volunteers must enter the Partner Code PRN10501 on the first page of the online form to ensure they are allocated to NPC Relations and Services area that will select and train all NPC Assistants. Applications will close on Saturday, 15 November.

Once all steps of the registration process have been completed, please email us: auspara@paralympic.org.au and provide your name and phone number so we are aware of your registration.

After positions have been allocated, the APC will endeavour to have regular contact with all volunteers prior to its arrival in Rio to maximise their knowledge of the Team and their individual requirements throughout the Games.
