Amber Merritt is one of the emerging stars of the Australian line up and was the second highest point scorer at her debut Games in London, where the team won a silver medal. Having firmly established herself in the Gliders team as a teenager, Amber looks set to enjoy a long and distinguished career with the national team.
The West Australian starred at the 2011 U/25 World Championships, playing a critical role in Australia winning a silver medal. She top scored in Australia’s 60-47 semi-final victory over Canada, scoring 25 points to go with her 11 rebounds.
She was already a member of the senior Australian team at the 2010 IWBF World Championships, rating her selection as a 17-year-old as the highlight of her burgeoning career. The Gliders finished fourth and Amber gained invaluable experience early in her career.
Away from the court, Amber enjoys collecting vintage clothing and scrapbooking. Nicknamed Bambi, the young gun has designs on one day winning Paralympic gold.
