Woolworths is set to continue its partnership with Aussie sporting teams on the global stage, announcing that it has come on board as Official Supermarket and Fresh Food supporter of the Australian Teams at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Olympic Games will take place from 24 July – 9 August 2020, while the Paralympic Games will be held from 25 August – 6 September 2020.

Woolworths’ Director of Marketing Andrew Hicks said: “We have a long tradition of supporting events that engage the Australian community and we’re proud to continue our association with the Australian Teams into 2020, following our initial partnerships at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Eating fresh and healthy food is the cornerstone to an athlete’s success and we are excited to inspire the next generation of Australian sporting champions.

“Australians can expect Woolworths stores right across the country, together with their local communities, to support and celebrate our Olympic and Paralympic Teams on their journey to, and in Tokyo.”

The Australian Paralympic Committee’s (APC) Chief Executive Officer Lynne Anderson said: “After welcoming Woolworths into the Australian Paralympic family for the first time in the lead-up to Rio 2016, we couldn’t be prouder to know Woolworths are once again right behind the APC and the Australian Paralympic Team on our journey to Tokyo 2020.

“In an important era for Paralympic sport, Woolworths has shown a great devotion to helping us strengthen the Australian Paralympic movement and provide more opportunities for Australians to engage with our incredible Para-athletes. The potential of our Australian Paralympic Team and this partnership to make a positive difference is very exciting.”
