Spring / Summer Para Biathlon Roller Ski program- NSW- Jindabyne Sport and Recreation

As the winter ski season comes to an end Disabled Wintersport Australia’s (DWA) Spring / Summer Para Biathlon Roller Ski program begins. If you enjoyed the Para Nordic cross country skiing program or you are looking at getting involved next season, the Spring / Summer Para Biathlon Roller Ski program is for you.

Participation in the programswill be free of charge or heavily subsidised.

DWA is working in partnership with Biathlon Australia, Paralympics Australia, Snow Australia and Veteran and ADF adaptive sport programs to support Invictus pathways.

Para-biathlon was introduced in Lillehammer in 1994. Para Biathlon combines target shooting and cross-country skiing (roller skiing during Spring and Summer). It consists of either a 7.5km or a longer 12.5km race, divided into 2.5km stages. Between each stage, athletes must hit five targets located at a distance of 10 metres. Para-biathlon is open to athletes with a physical or vision impairment. Athletes with a vision impairment compete with a guide and shoot with a laser rifle assisted by acoustic signals. Athletes with a physical impairment compete standing or in a sit ski and shoot air rifle over the same distance.
