New Zealand-born Jessee Wyatt began playing sport at the insistence of his surgeon, and while involved in Para-equestrian, met the wife of his current coach, John Eden, who spotted his talent for shot put.
Following this chance encounter in 2012, Jessee debuted for Australia at the IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha, Qatar, where he placed fifth. He went one better at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, securing a fourth place finish and Oceanic record, with just 28cm standing between Jessee and bronze.
In 10 years’ time he hopes to be a two-time Paralympian with at least one medal under his belt, and off the back of his results in Rio, looks to be well on his way.
