Twelve teams from eight countries will contest the 2019 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball Youth World Championships in Penrith, NSW, from Monday (5 August).

Australia will field two teams – Alice Kingston, Amy Ridley, Makayla Reilly, Molly Smith, Alana Tiller and Genevieve Weston for the girls’ tournament and Thientuoc Autran, Darren Coyle, Isaiah Muller, Callum Saunders, Ethan Scathurchio and Tyson O’Neil for the boys’ – who will both open their campaigns against Brazil on Monday.

Kingston, Ridley, Reilly, Smith, Tiller and Weston, who are faced with the tough challenge of defending the girls’ world title, have the Australian women’s team, the Belles, to look to for inspiration, after they reached the bronze medal match at the 2019 IBSA Goalball International Qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in Fort Wayne, USA, last month.

The 2019 IBSA Goalball Youth World Championships run from 5-9 August.
