para update 3.2With only a few days until the 2014 UCI Para-cycling World Road Championships kick off in Greenville, USA, our para-cyclists took a step back from training to inspire a new generation of American students.

Stuart Tripp, Carol Cooke, Mic Curran and Matt Formston spent quality time with 7th graders at Sevier Middle School to talk about their experiences as athletes, overcoming adversity as well as the upcoming championships.

The class asked questions, spent time taking photos with the athletes and most importantly learned that it’s never too late to set another goal or to dream a new dream; a learning that the 7th graders adopted as their new moto.

The school visit came about after members of the Australian team joined the Greenville Spinners Bicycle Club for a group ride and met Sevier Middle School teacher, Jodi Imes.

Despite their schedules in the lead up to the Para-cycling Road World Championships, the Aussie athletes motivated and encouraged students as well as set a high example as high performance athletes and community leaders.
