The Australian Para-cycling team is celebrating a record-breaking performance at the 2025 UCI Track World Championships in Brazil, with 16 gold medals catapulting the team to No.1 on the medal table.

Australia nearly doubled the number of titles won by its nearest competitor, Great Britain, while Italy, Spain and France each finished with four gold medals.

Additionally, Australian Para-cyclists set six world records across the extraordinary four-day campaign.

Among the winners were Paris 2024 Paralympic Games gold medallists Korey Boddington and Emily Petricola. Tahlia Clayton-Goodie was a standout, winning four world titles in the C1 women’s category, while Tara Neyland won three individual gold medals on her Track World Championship debut.

The team secured five world championships and two world records on the opening night and continued its golden streak from there.

“This is a historic result for our Para-cycling program; our first time ranked number one in the world since 2014 and our most successful Track World Championships to date,” said Sheila Galloway, AusCycling’s head coach of Para-cycling.

“Delivering 25 medals, 16 rainbow jerseys and six world records reflects the courage, commitment and unity of this exceptional team.

“These Championships also gave us the chance to compete in new events for LA 2028, to experiment, take risks and gain valuable lessons for the future. Continued investment through the Australian Government’s Para Uplift funding has been vital in removing barriers and providing more Australian athletes the opportunity to race internationally.

“Expanding our team and exposing athletes to world-class competition is driving performance now and building momentum toward Los Angeles.

“Our riders, staff and support network have set a new benchmark for excellence and inspired immense pride across the green and gold.”

The event featured 143 riders and 31 sighted guides from 36 nations.
