Australia’s golden generation of sailing continues to shine, with crews securing two of the three Paralympic gold medals on offer with a day to spare – and placed well to secure the third when the regatta concludes on Saturday.

Exceptional duo Dan Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch claimed victory in the SKUD18 class with a remarkable two races up their sleeve to ensure their place in history as the first team to win back to back Paralympic titles.

They were joined in celebration by the Sonar trio of Colin Harrison, Russell Boaden and Jonathan Harris, who wrapped up the gold medal with a race still to come.

There will be plenty of time to enjoy the comprehensive wins but the focus now turns to Matt Bugg in the 2.4mR single-person class as he battles for gold tomorrow. Bugg is four points ahead of defending champion Helena Lucas and a further point ahead of France.  A solid performance from the Tasmanian in the final race would ensure a remarkable clean sweep for the Australian Paralympic sailing team.

More to come.
