Bio
Daughter of Australian swimming legend Steve Holland, Nerice Holland is also making waves in the pool.
Nerice, who has an intellectual disability, showed her talent in the pool from an early age, starting swimming at just six months. Encouraged to pursue her talents by her parents, at 19 Nerice won five gold, three silver and one bronze medal at the 2007 INAS-FID World Championships in Belgium.
She followed this up with a whopping 13 gold medals at the 2009 Global Games in the Czech Republic and is shaping up as a force to be reckoned with at the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships.
Describing herself as friendly, dedicated and determined, Nerice wishes to be known for her complete dedication to swimming. She draws her inspiration to succeed from her father Steve who held multiple world records and won a bronze medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
Nerice has up to 11 training sessions every week and is excited by the opportunity to qualify for the London Paralympic Games in 2012, now that athletes with an intellectual disability have been re-included on the program.
