Nathan Chivers
Quick Facts
Bio
Nathan Chivers is Paralympic skier Bart Bunting’s guide and helped him win gold medals in the downhill and super G, and silver in the giant slalom at the 2002 Salt Lake City Paralympic Games. On top of their Paralympic success, the pair has also combined to win an array of World Cups and World Championships.
Describing himself as fair, honest and kind, Nathan has been friends with Bart since high school and believes this has made it easier to create and maintain the special bond needed between a skier and a guide. First competing in 1998, Nathan believes his greatest sporting moment was winning the downhill gold in Salt Lake City.
The snow has brought its fair share of ups and downs for Nathan as he described skiing off a cliff in New Zealand during a white out as the scariest thing he has ever experienced. On the flip side, he has won multiple medals on the snow and enjoyed skiing nude on his bucks’ weekend.
When he’s not on the slopes, Nathan works as a manager in the nursery he owns and is a trained horticulturalist. He loves riding motorbikes and admires Australian supercross champion Chad Reed and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder.
Nathan and Bart Bunting plan to add more medals to their Paralympic collection as well as have fun and enjoy themselves in Vancouver.
