Quick Facts
Bio
Budding young track star Morgan McAllister first competed in athletics in 2004 after taking part in her school cross-country carnival. Taking a liking to running, Morgan devoted more time to the sport and, with the help of her former coach Olympic gold medallist Glynis Nunn-Cearns, was selected for the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Shadow Squad.
Since then, Morgan now trains with Eric Brown and has enjoyed success at the national level, finishing first in the T37 400m at the 2010 Australian Championships, as well as first in the 800m and second in the 400m at the 2009 Youth Paralympic Games in Melbourne. After making her first Australian team at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, Morgan proved she could match it with the best in the world, placing seventh in the final of the 400m.
Morgan, who was born with cerebral palsy, also competed in swimming at a national level as well as local equestrian events. When she’s not playing sport, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her family and friends. She is currently studying for her degree in occupational therapy and plans to be a successful professional in this industry down the track.
Morgan also enjoys travelling and in 2009 travelled to Cambodia with her school to raise money for children in impoverished areas to attend school. An eye-opening experience, Morgan would like to use her occupational therapy degree to improve the health of those living in third world countries.
