Jeremy Tidy
Quick Facts
Bio
Strong-willed, independent and hard working, Jeremy Tidy wants to be one of the best disabled swimmers in the world. He finished fifth in the 200m individual medley and the 100m backstroke at the 2006 IPC World Swimming Championships and has held the Australian records for his class in the 200m individual medley, the 100m backstroke and the 50m freestyle.
At his first Paralympic Games in Beijing, Jeremy placed sixth in the 200m individual medley and eighth in the 100m backstroke. He loved his first Paralympic experience and after training hard for four years to be there, is very happy he made the final of his pet event the 200m individual medley as the second fastest qualifier. “It was the biggest three minutes of my life,” he says.
Jeremy, who was born with spina bifida, is the only athlete in his family of three and admits to being a clean freak. He also has a diploma in Film and Television and plans on pursuing a career in the field, outside swimming.
He hears London calling and would love to swim at every event between now and then including the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games.
