Bio
Eric Bickerton is a sighted guide for vision-impaired Australian athlete Jessica Gallagher.
The pair started competing together in November 2008 and it wasn’t long until they began achieving impressive results. With Eric acting as her guide, Jessica won gold at the 2009 New Zealand Winter Games and then went on to win her first IPC World Cup medal in January 2010.
Eric is now firmly set on helping Jessica win gold at the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver.
A very accomplished skier in his own right, Eric first started skiing in 1990 while in the Australian Navy and eventually represented the Australian Military at an International Level.
After his departure from the military in 2000, Eric operated ski improvement and guided ski tours in areas around the world such as Canada, USA, Italy and Norway and plans to continue with world wide ski tours into the future.
Eric also assists the sport of alpine skiing in Australia through his position as National Technical Delegate Commissioner for Ski and Snowboard Australia and as a member of the Board for Disabled Winter Sports Australia.
