Bio

The guide for blind distance runner Gerard Gosens, Dennis Fitzgerald is hoping his experience from the Beijing Games will shine through at London 2012.

Having united with Gerard at the 2006 World Championships, Dennis later qualified for the Beijing 2008 Games, an experience he rates the highlight of his career to date. Qualifying for the 1500m final in front of 90,000 spectators, Dennis finished sixth in a thrilling race.

Dennis cites his most embarrassing moment while on his honeymoon in France. While using the bathroom on a train, someone managed to hit the door opening button and the door flung open to the surprise of a number of passengers.

Having grown up in Toowoomba and now residing in Brisbane, Dennis lists his number one sports star as Darren Lockyer in true Queensland fashion. He wears black undies in every race and hopes this lucky routine will help him perform alongside Gerard at London 2012.
