Bio

Brendan Dowler is one determined and successful man. One of four siblings from New South Wales, he is a self-labelled senior member of the Australian wheelchair basketball team

After reaching his sporting goal of making the Australian team, Brendan was given some icing on the cake, winning a silver medal at the Athens Games. Beijing was even more fruitful as the Australian team won gold, breaking their 12 year gold medal drought. Winning a Paralympic gold medal is his greatest achievement; marrying his wife is the only event that rivals his gold medal.

Brendan’s talent does not end with basketball. He has a degree in IT and spends most of his days working with self-confessed “geeks”. He loves earth and sea pizza and has recently spent some time trying to get his vegetable patch up and growing.

For now, Brendan is enjoying the feeling of being a Paralympic gold medallist and is not thinking about his wheelchair basketball future. When the domestic league resumes in 2009, Brendan says he will contemplate his future then.
