Bio

Andrew Pasterfield first represented Australia in 2007 at the Can-Am Championships in Canada and walked away with one gold and three bronze medals. In 2008 and only one year into his international swimming career, Andrew competed at the Beijing Paralympics where he swam three personal bests and placed seventh in the 100m backstroke.

As well as swimming, Andrew enjoys cricket and rugby league and he supports the Brisbane Broncos. He also enjoys going to the beach, hanging out with his friends and watching movies.

Describing himself as easy-going, he admits he feared for his life when he was ten as he choked on a piece of chicken and was rushed to hospital. He believes that was the scariest moment of his life, while the funniest was realising he was not going to choke to death after all.

Sport runs deep in Andrew’s blood, with his family actively taking part in many sports. He plans to continue swimming and after having a ball in Beijing, is eager to compete at another Paralympic Games.
