A bequest is a simple yet powerful way to assist the causes that matter to you most.  A bequest in your will ensures you provide lasting support to Australia’s current and future generations of Paralympic athletes.

A bequest to the Australian Paralympic Committee can be your special legacy and has the power to assist in developing and supporting Australia’s Paralympic athletes for decades to come. Leaving a bequest in your will transforms it into a potent tool for change, without affecting your lifestyle today.

Unless you specify otherwise, bequests made to the APC are placed in a trust fund which provides interest and dividend income to support the Australian Paralympic Team for future Games, without touching the capital. That means that your bequest will continue to help our Paralympic Team, as long as there are Paralympic Teams and Paralympic athletes to benefit from the generosity of dedicated supporters such as you.

The APC is establishing a register which will contain the names of all those who remember our Paralympians through bequests.

The register is our way of honouring your generosity and remembering those who remembered us.

Types of Bequests

Residuary Bequest

A residuary bequest is a gift of the remainder of your estate (or a percentage thereof) after all your other gifts, taxes and debts have been fulfilled.
Since a residuary bequest is not for a specific amount of money, this sort of bequest keeps its value over the years. It means that the gift you include today is worth just as much when the time comes to put it to work.

Here is some simple wording for a residuary bequest to the Australian Paralympic Committee:

I give, devise and bequeath to the Australian Paralympic Committee free from all duties, the following ____ percentage OR the remainder of my estate and direct that the receipt of the Executive Director for the time being will be a sufficient discharge to my trustees.

Pecuniary Bequest

A pecuniary bequest is a gift of a set dollar amount determined by you at the time you draw up or update your will.

Here is some simple wording for a pecuniary bequest to the Australian Paralympic Committee:

I give, devise and bequeath to the Australian Paralympic Committee free from all duties, the following $____ amount and direct that the receipt of the Executive Director for the time being will be a sufficient discharge to my trustees.

Specific Bequest

A specific bequest is a gift of an item of specific value to be passed on to the Australian Paralympic Committee to enable it to generate funds.

Here is some simple wording for a specific bequest to the Australian Paralympic Committee:

I give, devise and bequeath to the Australian Paralympic Committee free from all duties, the following ____ item/s and direct that the receipt of the Executive Director for the time being will be a sufficient discharge to my trustees.
