One of the most successful Australian Paralympian athletes of all time, Russell Short stands ready to enter a remarkable seventh Games at London 2012.

The super talented discus, shot put and javelin thrower has won no less than six gold, two silver and two bronze medals from participating in the last six Games. This is in addition to four gold and three silver medals from the last five World Championships.

A keen participant and follower of sport, shot put expert Noni Thompson is in her element competing on the athletics field.

She was involved in a serious car accident in 2004, acquiring a brain injury that Noni feared would prevent her from achieving her sporting aspirations. But post-accident, she was absolutely thrilled at finding she could still throw the shot put and javelin, setting her on course towards the Paralympic Games.

Bio

While Michelle Errichiello will be competing at her first Paralympics at London 2012, she enters the Games with a big reputation. Making her debut for Australia at the 2009 Arafura Games in Darwin, Michelle made a stunning entrance to the world scene, breaking the T42 200m world record in her first attempt.

The record only lasted all of 40 minutes after Michelle’s training partner, Kelly Cartwright, broke it again. Nonetheless, it marks Michelle as an athlete to watch out for in London.

Gabriel Cole describes himself as an artistic, passionate and driven individual. On the track, however, he believes that it’s his strong mind and aggressive running style that sets him apart from the rest of the field.

Born with a minor deformity of his left hand, Gabriel entered the world of Paralympic sport in 2009 after being recommended to coach Stephen Butler by one of his school teachers. By the tender age of 18, he had already achieved what many dream of their whole life - representing their country on the world stage.

Fun, energetic and determined, Jenny Blow has come a long way in her very short goalball career.

In less than a year since first playing goalball in 2009, Jenny represented Australia at the 2010 IBSA World Championships, where Australia finished eighth. Jenny dreams of competing in London and is looking further still towards Rio de Janeiro in 2016, where she hopes the team will be in a position to medal.

Jenny feels immense satisfaction when blocking or scoring a goal and brings energy and fun to the team when it is most needed.

Bio

Tyan Taylor is a relative new comer to the sport of goalball, having been introduced to playing the sport by her vision support teacher at high school.

However, it was actually years earlier than Tyan first saw goalball. Watching it as a 10-year-old, her grandmother suggested that one day Tyan could play goalball and if she put her mind to it, might even be able to compete at the Paralympic Games.

Bio

One of the most promising young athletes in wheelchair racing, it’s hard to believe Madison de Rozario is only 18 years old.

Aged just 14, Madison was the youngest athlete in the 2008 Australian Paralympic Team, but rather than letting the occasion overwhelm her, she made the final of the 100m before shining as part of the 4x100m relay team that won a silver medal.
