Anti Doping

The World Anti-Doping Code and APC Anti-Doping Policy

The APC, as a member of the International Paralympic Committee, and recipient of funding through the Australian Sports Commission must have an Anti-Doping code and practices that are compliant with the World Anti Doping Agencies’ (WADA), World Anti-Doping Code.

The World Anti-Doping Code is the core document that provides the framework for harmonized anti-doping policies, rules, and regulations within sports organizations and among public authorities.

The Prohibited List

The World Anti-Doping Code works in conjunction with five International Standards aimed at bringing harmonization among anti-doping organizations in various technical areas, namely, the Prohibited List, testing, laboratories, Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), and protection of privacy and personal information

The Prohibited List lists methods and substances that are prohibited in Sport. The List is revised each calendar year and it is imperative that athletes and support staff in Paralympic programs are aware that changes take place regularly.

If athletes with to clarify the status of a substance they can do so at the substances section of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Agency (ASADA) website, or by calling the ASADA Anti-Doping hotline, 1800 020 506 (7am – 7pm AEDST).
