Career Highlights

Competing at the 2013 IPC World Championships in Lyon

Greatest Moment

Representing Australia twice in one year

Nicole was competing in the 1500m at the 2013 Australian Championships when she was targeted by scouts, who encouraged her to transfer to shot put due to her height and arm span.

The South Sydney local began a new training regime under top Australian hammer throwers, Karyne Di Marco and Breanne Clement, placing 6th at the 2013 IPC World Championships in Lyon and 7th in 2015 in Doha. Nicole was then selected to represent Australia at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, and threw the shot 11.53m to finish 7th and set new Australian and Oceanic records.

Athletics isn’t the only sporting discipline Nicole is skilled in, having also represented Australia in skiing and basketball as part of the Special Olympic Team and at the INAS-FID Global Games. The opportunity to represent Australia at both these events in the same year is one of the highlights of her still early career.

Nicole’s pre-competition routine is to wear an old pair of socks, and her ultimate sporting goal is to represent Australia at both a summer and a winter Paralympic Games – one down, one to go!

When she isn’t training or competing, Nicole is employed as a fitness coach and personal trainer. To date, she has completed a Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma in Fitness.

She lists her hobbies as playing sport, travelling overseas and spending time with family and friends.
